In the author's words, "The poems are the distillation of a lifetime of moving from country to country, home to home, language to language; of teaching, reading, writing, translating, and farming the intractable earth of Crete. They are in the dramatic and narrative modes, philosophical, historical, satirical, elegiac. The Collection includes poems on love, loss, and death. They are my offering at the altar of the Unknown God on the Acropolis of Athens."
